Experticket visits PortAventura World to continue fostering a long-term strategic partnership

The most valuable partnerships aren’t forged in a single meeting. They are built on years of hard work, trust, and a shared vision. With that philosophy in mind, on July 1, 2026, the Experticket team visited PortAventura World’s headquarters for a day of collaboration with the resort’s Revenue & Distribution managers.

The meeting is part of a partnership that has been strengthened over the past few years and reflects both companies’ commitment to continuing to move forward together in an area that is increasingly strategic for the leisure industry: B2B tourism distribution. In a market where sales channels are constantly evolving and technology has become a key differentiator, maintaining a close relationship between teams is just as important as having the best tools available.

Three Decades of Transforming a Theme Park into a Major Tourist Destination

Since its opening in 1995, PortAventura World has been at the center of one of the greatest success stories in European leisure tourism. What began as Spain’s first large-scale theme park is now a tourist resort that includes PortAventura Park, Ferrari Land, Caribe Aquatic Park, more than 3,300 hotel rooms, a convention center, and a range of leisure activities available more than 300 days a year.

Its evolution has gone far beyond simply adding new attractions. Over the course of these three decades, the resort has constantly reinvented itself, expanding its offerings and adapting to new market demands to establish itself as one of the continent’s most important leisure destinations.
The results speak for themselves. Coinciding with the celebration of its 30th anniversary, the 2025 season closed with 5.3 million visitors—about 100,000 more than the previous year—making it the second-best season in its history. In addition, both Ferrari Land and Caribe Aquatic Park recorded record attendance figures.

But perhaps the most significant development is the transformation of its business model. Currently, approximately half of its visitors come from international markets, with France, the United Kingdom, and Ireland among the top source countries. This diversification, combined with a clear commitment to reducing seasonality, has made PortAventura World one of the major drivers of tourism in the Mediterranean.

Its impact extends even beyond the resort itself. According to a study conducted by PwC, PortAventura World has generated 18,000 million euros in cumulative economic impact since its opening, supports more than 10,000 jobs each year, and accounts for around 0.5% of Catalonia’s GDP. These figures reflect the scale achieved by a project that continues to serve as a benchmark for the entire leisure industry.

A Season Marked by Investment and Innovation

Maintaining leadership means continuing to evolve. The 2026 season once again demonstrates PortAventura World’s commitment to renewing the visitor experience with new offerings capable of attracting both new audiences and those who return year after year.

Among the main new additions is Coral Bay, The Lost Legend, the major expansion of Caribe Aquatic Park. The new area features more than 6,000 square meters of themed attractions, including a pirate bay, new water rides, children’s play areas, and spaces designed to enhance the family experience.
The lineup is rounded out by Makamanu Jungle: The Adventure Trek, an immersive trail located in Polynesia that invites visitors to explore tunnels, suspension bridges, walkways, and structures nestled among the vegetation. This offering reflects one of the industry’s major trends: creating participatory experiences that complement traditional attractions.

In addition to these new additions, Dragon Khan—one of Europe’s most iconic roller coasters—has been renovated, ensuring it will remain one of the park’s major highlights for years to come.

Entertainment is also evolving

Innovation isn’t limited to the attractions. The 2026 summer program expands the lineup of shows, nighttime activities, and immersive experiences with the goal of increasing the amount of time visitors spend at the resort.

Once again, one of the main highlights is the nighttime drone show, which returns this summer as a daily event. More than 300 drones trace figures inspired by the different worlds of PortAventura World, combining technology, music, and visual effects to offer a spectacular end to the day.
These investments respond to an increasingly evident trend in the industry: offering more reasons to visit the park, increasing the perceived value of the experience, and encouraging longer stays.

When Distribution Is Also Part of the Experience

The visitor’s experience doesn’t begin when they pass through the turnstiles. It starts much earlier, the moment they discover the destination and decide to buy a ticket.

That’s why distribution has become a strategic component for any leisure operator. Managing travel agencies, tour operators, inbound operators, OTAs, bed banks, hotels, and other distributors requires a technological infrastructure capable of connecting all channels, keeping inventory synchronized in real time, and facilitating efficient product management.

When a resort exceeds 5.3 million annual visitors, operates for more than 300 days a year, and markets its offerings in dozens of international markets, distribution ceases to be merely an operational process and becomes a competitive advantage. Each new channel represents an opportunity for growth, but it also requires tools that allow for control over availability, rates, promotions, and the purchasing experience

It is precisely in this scenario that a specialized technology partner plays a strategic role.

A partnership based on trust

Experticket has been supporting PortAventura World for years in managing its B2B distribution, providing a platform designed to connect leisure operators with travel agencies, tour operators, distributors, and other sales channels.

Beyond the technology, this collaboration is built on a relationship of trust forged over time. The visit on July 1 is yet another example of this shared commitment to continue evolving together and tackle the new challenges of tourism distribution.

As with any long-term partnership, these meetings help maintain open communication between the teams, share a common vision, and continue aligning objectives for the coming seasons.

Technology Driving Growth

Digitalization has changed not only how tickets are sold but also how we interact with distributors.
Today, major operators need platforms capable of automating processes, integrating multiple systems, connecting hundreds of sales channels, and providing real-time information to facilitate business decision-making.

That is precisely the role Experticket plays. Our platform helps theme parks, zoos, aquariums, museums, and other tourism operators optimize their B2B distribution strategy, expand their commercial reach, and manage their sales channels more efficiently.

More than just a technology provider, our goal is to act as a specialized partner that supports each client’s growth, adapting technology to market trends and the specific needs of each destination.

We continue to build the future together

We at Experticket would like to thank the entire PortAventura World team for their warm welcome during this working session.

Our special thanks go to Eduardo García and Sandra Plana for hosting David Zaragoza, Jaime Martínez, and Jorge Mira at a meeting that reinforces a partnership built over the years and one that will continue to evolve in the future.

Because behind a successful distribution strategy, there’s more than just technology. There are teams working toward a common goal, relationships built on trust that grow stronger over time, and a shared commitment to continuing to innovate in order to offer visitors the best possible experience from the very first moment: when they decide to buy their ticket.
